The company was contacted in July 2013 because I was tired of hit or miss attempts on my part at caring for our lawn. Based on reviews and a visit by Mike, I was impressed by the program which uses organic fertilizers along with slice seeding, aerating and application of lime after taking soil samples which were analyzed by an outside lab. Another consideration was concern for our grandchildren playing in the yard along with their puppy which gets into everything! The program was initiated in mid-August and finished in mid-October. We had decided to add more irrigation to our yard in mid-September. This definitely helped a lot to get the full benefit of the program. At this writing our yard looks much better and we’re looking forward to next year and even better grass. The employees are friendly and competent.

When we went organic my husband was skeptical that our lawn would look as good as our neighbor’s chemically managed lawn. The first year was tough on the lawn, but as Mike would reiterate, that is normal because most of the activity and fortification is happening in the soil and roots of the grass. It looked good but there were still some problem areas that were problems since we moved into our home. We also started in the Spring, when it’s better to start the lawn care in the fall. By the end of our first season though we were able to notice that the lawn was looking much healthier. We just signed another full year contract with Mike – i think this is our third season with him – and my previously skeptical husband loves how our lawn looks. The staff come and do their job without needing to schedule ahead of time, so it’s always a nice surprise to come and see that more work was done on our lawn (it’s not a real surprise, as our contract says what applications would be done). They also leave a note after each application explaining what was done and how that helps the soil and grass which is nice to understand. We chose to pre-pay a full year’s contract as he offers a discount over a pay per service plan. We look forward to many more years with Organic Soil Solutions.

I used Organic Soil Solutions to put down new topsoil and reseed my entire lawn. I now use them for seasonal lawn fertilization and treatment. They are good and we are amazed. Our grass had been burned out last summer and we had somebody else taking care of it and they did not succeed. This company told us that the grass would grow and that we would have a good lawn and they were absolutely correct; it was in and worked within the time period they said. Their pricing was very reasonable in comparison with other companies.

Just a quick note to give special kudos to Brian and Alfredo, they came to do overseeding today, the lawn looks so terrific there was not much of that needed, but we had a truck that had to back over the lawn with a load of bricks and compressed ruts across part of the lawn. Brian and Alfredo worked hard to repair this issue by pitchfork, putting the soil back in place without disturbing the grass. Thanks again for the great and friendly service!

I’ve used Organic Soil Solutions for over 5 years now… Very professional crew, they come when they say, and leave a note on your door saying what they did if you aren’t home. I use the early pay-in spring option and save 10% for the summer’s treatments. My lawn looks great, and I don’t believe in watering! My neighbors ask…Mike’s taught me a few things about soil and pests, very good stuff. I plan on using them again in 2010 now that the construction is done. I like the reminder letter they send in the winter — it has good lawn and pest control tips.

They totally reseeded the portions of the lawn that were beyond saving, with their own special mix to suit our yard and fertilized the rest of the lawn…They did an amazing job. The owner seems to be extremely knowledgeable about organic soil and lawn care, and the company chose treatments based on the needs of my lawn. It’s too soon to see the full impact on my formerly sad-looking lawn, but I sleep better at night knowing they took a good look at what my lawn needed instead of applying a cookie-cutter approach, and that there aren’t any harmful chemicals involved. Despite the individual attention, expertise, and specialty organics, their prices weren’t any more than a traditional lawn service, and were less on some services. I wish I’d have found them sooner. Try this in lieu of traditional chemical services…it seems to work better, and without any concerns about harm to kids, pets, wildlife, etc. We love that you offer safer, innovative options!

Michael responded promptly to my request for an estimate for lawn care. He came out when he said he would and gave me a lot of good information. He really knows his stuff. Shortly thereafter he mailed me a proposal. The cost was fairly competitive with other quotes I received, but I believe the quality of the products and the service will be much better. He also tailors the service to each lawns specific needs. I was very impressed with Michael’s knowledge of organic lawn care. He was happy to answer all my questions and tell me about some of his research. It is reassuring to know that I can have a natural lawn that won’t harm the environment or my children and pets. I found Michael to be very responsive and very professional.

With a new toddler grandchild I wanted to get rid of all chemicals in the lawn. Michael came promptly and explained what he would do. He also gave me a folder of information on what he would be doing and what I needed to do to keep up the lawn. Unlike the competition, he planned to do top-seeding in the spring and do the permanent reseeding in the late summer when the likelihood of success is highest. He came promptly and did the soil test and spread corn gluten. In early May he came and top-seeded the weak area with compost etc. I must say it looks better than it ever has. He will continue with treatments through the summer and in late summer/early fall will reseed the whole area to hopefully get a permanent good lawn area.

Doug, the man who mows the lawn, is one of the most dedicated people we know. He really understands grass. Doug is polite, reliable and totally responsible. The charge of $60 per cut is in line with other services and he only cuts when the grass needs cutting, instead of cutting every week whether or not the grass needs to be cut.
